Another Blanket Drop

We have blankets pouring in from all over the Country. This is so amazing to me. A few weeks ago we decided we want to do a special Christmas Drop. We are hoping to have enough blankets to take to one hospital. My sweet friend Karina dropped off 20 blankets several weeks ago. And they are beautiful!!! Then another darling woman that comes into the salon I work at in Highland dropped off 5 blankets as well. One is quilted. They are beautiful. My Aunt and her choir group are working on more blankets and one of the boys in their group is hoping to be able to do his Eagle Project with us. I am super excited about that. I have 8 brothers all who are Eagle scouts so we are HUGE fans of scouting. If anyone else out there is looking for an Eagle Project and their "boards" will approve this please feel free to do so ;)!

I have a friend who said that there are many quilting and sewing groups out there and she thought it would be fun to send out a challenge to see who could make and donate the most blankets before our next drop (not the Christmas drop) we thought maybe a local fabric store might want to get in on the fun and donate a gift card for the winning group. We want to throw this out there first off to see if anyone is interested. If you are please e-mail us at jjhaag5@yahoo.com and in the subject line put something about blanket drop challenge so we don't delete you because we don't recognize your name :)

Sorting of the Blankets

It's been a while since I have been on my blogs. SOOO.... I forgot that I'm supposed to load the last pictures first. Sorry about that. Anyway, my mom and sister came over the weekend before delivery and we sorted out all the blankets into their like sizes and then labeled boxes for each hospital and how many blankets they said they could use/needed and filled the boxes with a variety of sizes so that one hospital wouldn't get all the same size of blanket. It took a lot of work and my little sister Brooke used this as one of her value projects for Young Women's. She did a fantastic job.

We lined up the boxes and then loaded them into my mom's van according to which boxes were being delivered first and which ones would be last.

Piles and piles of blankets!

This is my little sister Brooke with two of my kids and me! We are in my MIL living room that is full of boxes of blankets!!

Donated Blankets

All of these pictures are of blankets people donated before our 1st Drop in October this year. We are so grateful for all who helped us not only with making blankets but donating material, bags, thread and other things. We have seriously been SO BLESSED!!! 1400 blankets for our first drop and more blankets are continuing to pour in.

The Mountainville 5th ward Beehives group (that's my ward) made and donated these blankets.

This blanket was donated from a family in PA! I am amazed how many of these blankets were donated by families who have lost a baby. It was so touching and very healing.

These are some of the rag blankets we made out of the left over scraps from blankets that were being made. Seriously save your scraps we made over 50 blankets from scraps. I lost count after 50.

These are some (and I mean a very few) of the blankets that were donated from my Aunt Pam and her choir group and ward. These blankets are also the same type of blankets that my mom and grandma made out of donated material from my Aunt Dorene and cousin Dina. We mentioned that our computer crashed and so we have lost most of the blanket pictures.

These blankets were donated by my SIL Brooke.

Blanket Drop October 2011

And this was Jordan Valley/ Pioneer Valley hospitals. They were the last hopsital on our drop that day. We did go to Alta View Hospital but forgot to take a picture and the lady was at a funeral so that didn't help but they did get the blankets. And a few days later we dropped blankets by American Fork Hospital too. All-in-all we dropped off 1400 blankets that day (which was October 17, 2011)

This was at the new IMC hospital in Murray! They gave my kids treats and then let them see the die casts of preemie baby hands and feet. That was super sweet for my kids to have something tangible to refer to for their brother.

SL Regional

University Hospital!!

This was the drop at LDS Hospital. The woman in the purple we figured out was one of my nurses when Emma was born :)!!

Lakeview hospital!!

Ogden Regional with Sister Stephanie. She was amazing and gave my kids treats and teddy bears!

These are pictures from the hospitals we took blankets too.

We went to Davis Hospital first. My good friend Diane (who is next to me in yellow) works there. They were so appreciative and so much fun to drop the blankets off too. We all had teary eyes. It was great!! I forgot to space so the top two pictures are the second hospital we went too McKay Dee in Ogden. They were awesome as well.

So Blessed

Jess and I decided that we needed to have a separate blog for the blankets. So we got it up and running and that very same day, my computer crashed. I am so blessed. I know that is not a sentence that should follow "computer crashed" but had it not crashed when it did I would have down loaded all the pictures from my camera and we would not have had any of them backed up, meaning we would have lost all our pictures from delivering the blankets. We have lost all of our pictures from this year (even though we had them backed up. and yes we are still trying to recover them) but we didn't lose the ones that are still on our camera :)!!

Just an update, the computer should be ready soon so I can transfer pictures :) I am way too excited about that!! And we have received several thank you letters in the mail from some of the hospitals. All wish to express there sincere gratitude to all who helped with the blankets. I have stories to come from the Drop Day and all the wonderful people we met at the different hospitals. Keep working on your blankets we are going to continue taking blankets to hospitals. You can e-mail us at jjhaag5@yahoo.com for info on how to get the blankets to us and we are hoping to have a few guest posts soon from women who helped make blankets and who have lost a child and want to add their story here in hopes of healing for all!!

Up and Running

Okay we have a new blog just for the blankets and for our project. Jess and I have decided that we will keep this project on going for now.

If you'd like to donate blankets, fabric or ziplock bags we would love any and all help we can get. Please contact us(Jess and Joleen) at jjhaag5@yahoo.com for more info.

Operation Blanket Drop was started in honor of our baby boy Ammon Paul Haag who was born too early to live longer than his precious 7 minutes. We make and gather and then donate baby blankets to hospitals to give to families who have still born babies or whose babies die in infancy or are fetal demise. We started our project in January 2011 and just recently delivered our first round of blankets on our baby's birthday. We received 1,400 blankets which were delivered to 12 hospitals along the Wasatch Front in Utah. We will be posting pictures soon. We blogged about our projects progress all this year on our family blog which is http://www.jesshaagfamily.blogspot.com if you'd like to read more about us and the blankets. We will be posting in the future here about the blankets. Pictures are coming soon of the delivering of blankets.

Thanks so much again to all who have helped!
Love: Jess and Joleen Haag
